Scottish Storytelling Centre / The Story Cafe

The Scottish Storytelling Centre provides a home for Scotland's stories in the heart of Edinburgh, showcasing traditional arts year round, where modern meets mediaeval architecture for an enticing mix of past and present.

The Story Café is located in the Storytelling Centre.

The Scottish Storytelling Centre is a vibrant arts venue with a seasonal programme of live storytelling, theatre, music, exhibitions, workshops, family events, and festivals. The Centre is the home of two festivals: TradFest, a traditional arts festival that takes place in the spring, and the Scottish International Storytelling Festival in October. The Centre is also a host venue for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and other exciting cultural programmes all year round.

The Centre is a great meeting place where you can experience Scotland’s rich story heritage. Explore the interactive Storywall to find Greyfriars Bobby, meet the Gruffalo and discover traditional Scottish tales. Swap your own stories in the Café over some delicious home baking and great coffee, or browse our bookshop in the medieval luckenbooths of the attached John Knox House, one of Edinburgh’s oldest and most important historical locations.
